Boys and Girls Science and Tech Club

Henk Wever has been a volunteer within the Boy and Girls Club of Kingston & Area since January 2006.  Week after week Henk shares his passion for science and engineering with our children and youth. The science program is easily one of the most popular and successful programs at the Kingston Boys and Girls Club for our 6 to 8 youth age group.  Henk’s Science Program has been consistently successful due to the following reasons.  Each week Henk arrives with a huge box of scientific and construction tools and supplies for the children to use.  Henk allows the children to use these supplies to build, construct, and experiment with the activity of the week, which is related to his ever, informative science lesson.  The children learn a great deal about science and technology through a “series” of hands-on active learning experiences. The children have had the opportunity to make sundials, drums, yo-yo’s, and toolboxes to name just a few.  Henk is always thinking of how he can engage youth in science so he has started a blog where children and youth can try his experiments at home.  To see more information please take a look at the following website http://bgsctechclub.wordpress.com/.
