Early Childhood Education Coordinator

Boys and Girls Club of Kingston & Area - Kingston, ON
$15 an hour - Part-time

Locations: Licensed Kindergarten Programs (West End/ Rideau Heights/ St Francis of Assisi/ Bagot St. locations)

Hourly Wage: $15.00/hr

Hours: 25-30 hours/week

Start Date: September

Boys and Girls Club of Kingston and Area is seeking an Early Childhood Educator; Coordinator for our Licensed After School Program. The ECE Coordinator will be responsible for providing JK/SK programming that use developmentally appropriate practices in a safe physical environment. ECE Coordinator will implement programs that provide experiences that promote social, emotional, physical and cognitive development. Successful candidates will understand the importance of physical and emotional health, and display an enthusiasm for working with children. Candidates will maintain a warm and open relationship with the children in their groups, and will be sensitive to their needs and able to communicate readily with them.

Qualifications:

Applicant must possess a Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education from a recognized University or College
Applicant must be registered and have proof of registration with the school of E.C.E.s
Applicant must provide up-to-date proof of Immunizations (Measles, Mumps, Rubella/ Tetanus Diphtheria, Polio (10 year booster)
Current Standard First Aid & CPR (C)
Current Criminal Reference Check including vulnerable sector
Familiarization with the Child Care Early Years Act
Flexibility in hours between 11:00am and 8:00pm and in various program areas
Previous experience in preschool, daycares or JK/SK Programs an asset
Good time management and organizational skills
Able to meet deadlines
Able to multi-task
Ability to actively engage and supervise a up to 20 children at one time
Ability to create and implement detailed and unique program plans that promote healthy active living (physical activity, social skills, personal health and wellness etc)
Able to implement behavioural management techniques fairly and effectively
Ability to be a leader and take initiative
Able to work well in a team environment, as well as an on an individual basis

Programmer

$13 - $14 an hour - Part-time

*After School Connections Programmer

*Please note that positions will take place Monday to Friday between the hours of

2:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. from September to June at the following locations:

- Robert Meek location

- North End locations

- West End Hub location

Gananoque & Joyceville locations

*Hours to be between 15-25/ week depending on position and site location

*Rate of pay = $12.00 - $14.00 depending on position and site location

Role and Responsibilities

Ability to actively engage and supervise members according to a 1:15 ratio at one time
Ability to create and/or implement detailed and unique program plans that promote healthy active living and healthy childhood development (physical activity, social skills, personal health and wellness etc)
Able to implement behavioural management techniques fairly and effectively in accordance with Polices and Procedures
Teach/mentor volunteers and placement students within your programming
Assisting with special events, annual activities and community events.
Preferred Skills

Ability to adapt to changes in schedules, programming spaces, special events etc.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

Recent post-secondary graduate at College or University:
Early Childhood Education
Bachelor of Education
Recreational Leadership Diploma
Child and Youth Care (previously Child and Youth Worker) diploma
Behavioural Science Technology/Behavioural Psychology
Current CPR/First Aid Certificate (Standard First Aid/CPR Level C)
Current Record of immunizations (including TDP/10-year booster)
Up to Date CPIC/Police Check with vulnerable sector check (within the last 6 months)
High Five – Principles of Healthy Childhood Development Training (PHCD) an Asset
Personal Transportation to and from programming sites

Bus Driver

Overview: The Boys and Girls Club is presently seeking part-time and casual bus driver positions. These positions will provide daily transportation for children and youth to attend day care, after-school programs, summer camp programs and various functions in the community. 

All Drivers must comply with Boys and Girls Club, school and government regulations.

Qualifications:
*Previous driving experience
*hold a class B drivers license
*Clean drivers abstract 
*Clean police check with vulnerable sector

A positive attitude and team approach is required, while enjoying working with children and youth.

Party and Event Staff

Shift Time: Varying hours – days, evenings and weekend hours.

Position Summary:
This is a general party and event staff position within the Boys and Girls Club of Kingston & Area. Successful applicants will work parties and special events for the following Boys and Girls Club of Kingston & Area’s Social Enterprises: Kids Zone, Par-T-Perfect and Bricks 4 Kidz. This is a part time position with flexible hours to fit your schedule. This is the right position for you if you enjoy working with children in a hands-on and engaging way, being creative and having fun!

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Execute birthday parties and events both onsite and offsite
  • Ensure children’s safety at all times 
  • Follow all safety procedures for equipment and be aware of health and safety policies
  • Professionally represent the brand and promote agency programs 
  • Provide high quality customer service to both children and adults and receive feedback
  • Engage large groups of children by leading and instructing crafts, activities, sports and games
  • Work in a team environment and communicating with coordinator/manager
  • Adapt to changes in schedules, spaces, parties and events, etc. 
  • Greet and direct guests in a cheerful manner 
  • Assist with set-up and clean-up of parties and events
  • Keep parties and events running on time and ensure guests are enjoying themselves from start to finish
  • Accommodate needs and special requests of parents 
  • Help with set-up, supervision, and tear-down of inflatables 
  • Meet required deadlines (responding to emails, signing up for shifts, submitting timesheets, etc.) 
  • Other related duties as assigned

Qualification & Education Requirements:

  • Current CPR/First Aid Certificate/ Training
  • Up to Date CPIC/Police Check
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Experience working with children
  • Preference given to applicants with child related educational qualification (Bachelor of Education, Child and Youth Worker etc.)

Preferred Skills:

  • Passionate about teaching – specific interest math and science concepts
  • Ability to engage a large group of children
  • Ability to adapt to changes in schedules, programming spaces, special events etc.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task and take initiative in a leadership role
  • Holds a valid ‘G’ driver's license
  • The successful applicant must demonstrate the ability to work well in a team environment as well as on an individual basis
  • F Licence- not required but an asset.
